G TECTS Office 6 is the sixth site of our offices. For the first time, the office occupies a stand alone building of 5,000 square feet over a 25 foot by 100 foot ground floor and cellar. Located on the Lower East Side of Manhattan at the foot of the Williamsburg Bridge, the existing building had to be remade in its entirety. The building is organized into quadrants. The open glass storefront on Delancey Street houses office staff and workstations forming the most public of the quadrants. Directly below this is the workshop, storage and server. A private office and meeting room occupy the rear of the ground floor with wet areas in the quadrant beneath. The exterior masonry facade is left as a canvas for graffiti artists while the interior is an evolving experiment in spatial manipulation. Forty linear feet of glazing opens the corner of Delancey and Attorney Streets to the glowing interior while creating the illusion of a cantilevered roof to thousands of drivers entering Manhattan from the Williamsburg Bridge. A live webcam faces the street from the interior broadcasting to our website the collage of vehicular and pedestrian traffic juxtaposed with a reflection of the office interior. Passersby can use their mobile devices to scan our website QR Code and instantly see themselves on their devices via our website. The wireless camera also functions as a video conferencing tool and enhances office security.
